The PatientManager software that you order requires that your computer system be equipped with a number of features in order to run the program effectively. The program is designed for an installation where there are desktop or laptop machines in every room where patients are seen, as well as at the check- in and check out windows.
1- Your computer system must be Ethernet networked.
2- Processor speed in each machine is a critical determinant of the speed at which the PatientManager software will function. Your server, which will handle most of the processor intensive activities, must be an up to date Pentium 4 (or G5 for Mac users) running at the highest possible clock speed. The investment you make in a powerful server and desktop units will reap you benefits in reduced waiting times for the extensive "crunching" that the program does .
3- In order to run the PatientManager software, each machine must have a licensed version of FileMaker Pro. This is a readily obtainable database program. There are multiuser license versions that provide multiple versions for installation from a single CD ROM at a discount over individual CD ROM versions.

4- Efficiency benefits may accrue from having the FileMaker Pro Server application loaded on your server. That decision should be made in consultation with your local Systems Consultant. We will also advise you based on our assessment of the size of your deployment.

5- Scanning Software and hardware must be installed on your computer in order to take advantage of the Patient Manager software's ability to import scanned material into your patient records.
6- FAX software must be installed into your computer in order to take advantage of the Patient Manager software's ability to FAX patient records and other data.
7- Black and White laser printer is required in order to print patient reports and HCFA forms.
8- Color printer is required in order to print the color coded Indirect Ophthalmoscopy reports that the program is capable of generating.
We do not install computer systems. You must have your local Systems Consultant setup the network and the FileMaker Pro software. The Patient Manager software will run on any networked PC system running Windows 2000, XP Professional, or Mac system running system 8.1 or better as long as the FileMaker Pro software is properly installed and configured. There is extensive documentation that comes with the FileMaker applications that will assure the proper setup of your network system.
When you receive the PatientManager software, all that you will need to do is drag the PatientManager folder to the hard drive of your server and set up each machine so that the "PatientManager" file can be easily accessed. Double clicking on the "Patient Manager" file icon will open the program.
